The Alleged “Clear” Occultism of 1914
A Youtube video has been given to us as alleged evidence in support of the alleged allegation that was a freemason. The video is directed toward “Jehovah’s Witnesses.” Reference is made to one the JWs books, and a statement concerning Christ’s alleged return in 1914. Russell, of course, did not believe that Christ would return in 1914, but rather than he had returned in 1874.
We are also aware of the claim made in the JW publications that Christ’s return in 1914 had been proclaimed by “Jehovah’s Witnesses” for many years before 1914. Since there were no “Jehovah’s Witnesses” before 1914, and since we do not know of anyone at all who, before 1914, was proclaiming Christ was to return in 1914, the claim is false on two counts.

The idea is presented that Russell was predicting the “end of the world”, doomsday, for 1914. This is misleading since what Russell considered as the “end of the world” was actually the “the end of the age”, which he taught would not be doomsday, but the entrance of the world into the blessings of the millennial age. Additionally, Russell’s views on Armageddon and “the end of the age” were not the same as the JWs.

We are next told that Charles Taze engaged in pyramidology to set his dates, which, by use of the word “engaged,” seems to view Biblical pryamidology as a “practice” rather than a study. This kind of statement is evidently stated to leave the viewer with the impression that in some unstated manner Biblical pyramidology is to be associated with engaging in spiritism or demonic occultism. Nevertheless, Russell did not set dates by study of the Great Pyramid, but he did use the measurements of the Great Pyramid, God’s witness in Egypt, to verifiy the dates revealed in scripture.
True Biblical pyramidology is not associated with any spiritistic or occultic practice.

We are next informed that Russell was buried near a pyramid which is alleged to serve as continuing testimony as to his alleged pagan occult teachings. Actually, Russell was not buried near the pyramid, since that pyramid did not exist when Russell was buried. In reality, that pyramid was constructed in the center of the WTS plot of the United Rosemont Cemetery several years after Russell died. However, there is nothing on or about that pyramid monument that bears any testimony as to the alleged pagan occult teachings. Thus, what we are left with the imaginations of men as the alleged proof that this pyramid is in some way of demonic occultism.

The claim is made that the 1914 date is false, with alleged “clear” occultic origins. Since the date, as well as the chronology Russell used, has its origins in Bible prophecy and the years of events as given in the Bible, this would, in effect, end claiming that the Bible is clearly occultic. Russell may have erred in some respects to that chronology, even as he admitted that possibility many times, but such errors on his part would not make the chronology, or the prophecies of the Bible, to be “clear” occultic origins. We are told, without any evidence, that the setting of the [alleged] wrong dates was due to pyramidology, which is false, since the dates were not set due to pyramidology, but due to Bible prophecies.
We are next told that Charles Taze Russell, the founder of the Watch Tower, was a false prophet. In reality, since Russell never claimed to be a prophet, and disclaimed such many times, the statement is, in fact, a false statement.

Of course, our concern here is not with what Rutherford, or the JWs, taught after Russell died, as we are not associated with the JWs, nor was Russell ever associated with that organization. Russell, of course, had no control over what Rutheford claimed after Russell died.

We agree that the Jehovah’s Witnesses leadership does not have “divine guidance” as they claim, but this does not mean that Russell had anything to do with demonic occultism. The video presents no evidence whatsoever that Russell was involved in such, rather what is presented in the imaginations of men which has to be overlaid upon what is presented and then the imaginative “evidence” has to be read into what is presented. Thus, it appears that the word “clear” is actually being used to magnify the imaginations of men that are being presented as evidence as being “clear.”
